As a Logistics and Transportation Supervisor, you will be responsible for all material distribution using transportation resources in an efficient manner. Responsibilities include determining routes, schedules while ensuring delivery target levels at retail stores, and will include special business and home pickups, efficient load schemes, transporting donated materials, containerization use, fleet operation, care, maintenance, and scheduling of all personnel assigned to accomplish these activities. The implementation of all policies and procedures, and safety practices is required. All responsibilities will support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

Essential Duties and Requirements:

·Manages the activities for all transportation personnel, truck drivers, helpers in the care of material goods distribution. Oversees the safe, efficient, and timely loading and unloading of trucks at all locations. Ensures stores/plants are serviced in order to maintain acceptable space requirements, that all donated goods are removed, that all parking and loading practices conform with best practices.

·Plans and implements driver, helper, fleet schedules, ensuring that all equipment/sites are properly serviced on a daily / as needed basis.

·Ensures assigned work schedules to are completed and standards are maintained.

·Monitors and audits work assignments, activities for all transportation personnel, drivers and helpers using available technology, including site visits.

·Recommends / initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.

·Evaluates personnel work performance and completes performance appraisal/evaluations.

·Makes work performance standards known to all personnel so that procedures / practices are maintained, customer satisfaction is achieved.

·Maintains OSHA, DOT, Organizational standards, regulations where applicable.

·Consults with Senior Director of Operations in an effort to resolve any operational, personnel, resource issues or concerns.

·Ensures proper and safe operation of all equipment and fleet vehicles by maintaining preventive maintenance, service, and repair schedules in coordination with vendors, outside approved companies.

·Enhances safety performance and outcomes by complying with all Federal, State, with local and agency safety requirements where applicable. Attends required training. Reports all accidents / damage to agency or any private property to Senior Director of Operations, Safety personnel immediately. Ensures completion/collection of any/all documentation concerning any incident, accident, damage involving any Transportation property or personnel.

·This position requires the employee to be able to work independently and to make decisions or provide reliable input on decisions, of significant impact to Evansville Goodwill Industries.

·This employee may have significant input with regard to hiring and firing decisions for Evansville Goodwill and supervises several full time team members.

·Performs other related duties which may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

·Minimum 5 years in transportation/logistics, supply chain field, activities

·Minimum 2 years supervisory experience

Ability to:

·Market Goodwill and explain mission to the general public.

·Create/maintain the efficient operation of all collection/transportation activities.

·Serve customers/donors in a friendly and courteous manner.

·Lead team members to help meet retail operations goals.

·Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

·Work with people with disadvantages/disabilities.

·Operate forklift and drives trucks, when necessary.

Knowledge of:

·Established policies and procedures, practices.

·Specific requirements of material handling, activities and equipment.

·Relevant occupational safety rules and practices.

·Proper operation and routine maintenance of Transportation fleet/units.


·Develop and maintain skills and team members’ skills by ensuring participation in required training opportunities.

·Recruits and retains qualified individuals whose values sustain the agency’s mission driven culture.

·Adheres and enforces occupational safety procedures to include being an awareness ambassador for Risk Management.

·Consistently provides and ensures quality customer services to both internal and external customers.

Financial Performance:

·Responsibility to take a proactive role in protecting the agency’s assets and resources by controlling costs and generating revenue.

Physical Demands:

·Stands, walks, and/or sits for prolonged periods of time; repetitive bending, reaching, twisting and stooping.

·Lifting/pushing/moving up to 50 pounds constantly and occasionally lifting/pushing/moving up to 100 pounds; pushes/pulls 500 pound containers.

Work Environment:

·Indoor/outdoor work; exposed to outside weather conditions of heat, cold, and humidity, including sudden temperature changes; exposed to dust, dirt and solid particles from handling donated goods.


·Have valid for hire license, safe driving record, current auto liability insurance, be willing to travel within the Evansville Goodwill territory area and be insurable by Evansville Goodwill Industries.
